Max Verstappen went fastest during the first, and only, practice session in Miami, which was briefly brought to a halt after Ferrari's Charles Leclerc span out early on.
The reigning world champion, who has won the previous two editions of the Miami Grand Prix, topped the timesheets with a 1m 28.595s – leading the McLaren of Oscar Piastri by 0.105s. The Ferrari of Carlos Sainz was third fastest.

With practice time limited due to the Sprint weekend format, the biggest loser from the session was Charles Leclerc, who span at Turn 16 just nine minutes into FP1.
While he avoided the barriers, he was unable to engage reverse gear on his special-liveried Ferrari and get the car facing the right direction, prompting the red flags to be flown as he exited the car.
