Betting Guide Miami.jpg

It was another triumphant weekend for Max Verstappen and Red Bull last time out in China, with the Dutchman taking victory in both the Sprint race and the Grand Prix, but can this run of form continue as F1 returns to Miami?

Once again the weekend will offer two chances at points, with the second Sprint event of the season taking place. So who are the favourites to enjoy success at the Miami International Autodrome? Let’s see what the odds tell us…

NEED TO KNOW: The most important facts, stats and trivia ahead of the 2024 Miami Grand Prix

188BET’s odds are presented in decimal form: for every $1 wagered you would win the figure represented by the odds; so, if Verstappen is favourite at 1.50, you would win $1.50 for every dollar bet.

The odds for the win

Having been victorious at all but one weekend so far in 2024, Verstappen holds the strongest odds when it comes to who will stand on the top step of the podium this time out in Miami.

With the Miami International Autodrome having made its debut on the F1 calendar just two years ago, another factor going in Verstappen’s favour is the fact that he is the only driver to have won at the circuit.

Max Verstappen 1.15
Sergio Perez 13.0
Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris 21.0
George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg, Oscar Piastri 51.0
Fernando Alonso 67.0
Lance Stroll 251
Alex Albon, Daniel Ricciardo, Esteban Ocon, Kevin Magnussen, Logan Sargeant, Pierre Gasly, Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu 601

The odds for who will be fastest in qualifying

Unsurprisingly Verstappen is also the favourite to claim pole position in Miami, with the world champion having been on a run of consecutive P1 grid slots in 2024.

However, while he previously took victory during F1’s last two visits to this track, Verstappen is still yet to clinch pole here. The drivers to do so on those occasions were Sergio Perez in 2023 and Charles Leclerc one year earlier, both of whom are ranked as Verstappen’s closest challengers for the accolade this weekend.

The odds for a podium finish

Both Red Bull drivers have stood on the podium at four out of five races so far in 2024 – with three of these being one-two finishes – so Verstappen and Perez are rated as the most likely to appear on the rostrum in Miami.

Last time out in China, the possibility of another one-two was interrupted by Lando Norris, who slotted into P2. The McLaren driver is third favourite in the odds to score a podium this weekend, closely followed by Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

The odds for a top-six finish

Several drivers are in the mix here, with the margins remaining fine between the leading teams. While Red Bull and Ferrari lead the way, Norris and team mate Oscar Piastri are not far behind in the odds for McLaren.

The Mercedes pair of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are also in with a chance, and Fernando Alonso can never be ruled out in the Aston Martin.

The odds for a points finish

There are equally tight odds when it comes to who might finish in the top 10 on Sunday in Miami, with the leading gaggle of cars from Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin all ranking favourably.

But who else could potentially come away with a point? Yuki Tsunoda is in the mix despite a challenging weekend last time out in China, as is RB team mate Daniel Ricciardo along with Haas’s Nico Hulkenberg, who has scored points on three occasions so far this year.

The odds for fastest lap

After Verstappen and Leclerc each claimed two fastest laps apiece in the opening four rounds of the season, Alonso was a new name to take the accolade during the Chinese Grand Prix.

The Spaniard’s odds to repeat the feat this weekend are more distant, though, with Verstappen – followed by Leclerc – rated as the most likely to do so in Miami.

While there was no Safety Car appearance during last year’s Miami Grand Prix, it did feature in the inaugural race back in 2022. And with two Safety Car periods – as well as a Virtual Safety Car – at the Chinese Grand Prix two weeks ago, the odds favour another appearance this weekend.
