Zak O'Sullivan Joins the Williams Racing Driver Academy -

Williams’ new-look Driver Academy continues to take shape following the announcement that they’ve signed 16-year-old GB3 champion Zak O’Sullivan and placed the British driver in Formula 3 with Carlin.

As part of his new role with the Grove-based squad, O’Sullivan will be involved in simulator work and car development. He becomes the second driver to join the Williams Driver Academy for 2022 so far, along with Carlin’s American Formula 2 racer, Logan Sargeant, who was announced as a junior last October.

O’Sullivan clinched the GB3 title with Carlin last season, winning seven times and taking 14 podiums from 24 races in the competitive single-seater category – previously known as the British Formula 3 Championship.

“I’m so pleased to be continuing my strong relationship with Carlin and stepping up to FIA F3 with them this season,” said O’Sullivan. “This will be my third year working with the team and I am looking forward to the exciting challenge ahead. Thank you as always to Trevor [Carlin] and the team for their ongoing support in my career.”

Since making his car racing debut in 2019, O’Sullivan has never ended a season lower than second in the overall standings, finishing as runner-up in the 2019 Ginetta Junior Championship and the 2020 British Formula 4 Championship.

His title success has seen him selected as a finalist for the 2021 Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award, with the winner being announced this Sunday, February 6 at the Autosport Awards in London.

The British driver is one of four finalists, alongside fellow F3 racers Jonny Edgar and Ollie Bearman, and 2021 Euroformula Open runner-up Louis Foster.
