F3: Hauger thunders to Race 1 victory from P12 in dramatic fashion at the Red Bull Ring
Share
Dennis Hauger made it three Red Bull junior winners in as many years in Formula 3 on home soil in Spielberg, completing a remarkable charge from 12th to win out over PREMA Racing team mate Olli Caldwell and Charouz Racing System’s Logan Sargeant in Race 1.
Increasing his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship with a second win of the season, Hauger benefited from a dramatic late crash between Matteo Nannini and Clement Novalak. The duo had spent the majority of the race locked in a three-man brawl with Sargeant, while Hauger quietly picked his way through the pack.

Sargeant struggled to keep the pace in the latter stages of the race, though, and fell behind both Hauger and Caldwell just as Nannini dramatically collided with Novalak at the front, plunging the pair out of contention with four laps left.

Hauger picked up the pieces and scampered off into the distance, his win ensuring that Red Bull have an academy winner in Austria for the third year in a row, following Liam Lawson’s 2020 victory and Juri Vips’ win in 2019.

Finishing 12th, Jonny Edgar will look to make it two Red Bull Junior Team wins from two when he lines up on reverse grid pole in Race 2 at 1745 local time.
Race 3 takes place on Sunday at 1105 local time, the grid set by Friday’s qualifying session.
