Russell aiming for four wins in a row in series finale Virtual Canadian Grand Prix this Sunday

George Russell will be aiming to make it an incredible four wins in a row when he takes to the grid for the Virtual Canadian Grand Prix this Sunday.

The Williams driver has taken a hat-trick of victories in the last three rounds of F1's Esports series, triumphing on the virtual tracks of Spain, Monaco and Azerbaijan in Codemasters' F1 2019 game.

And with real F1 racing set to return with the Austrian Grand Prix on the first weekend in July, Russell will have one last chance to taste victory in the final race in the series this weekend before getting back to his Williams on track at the Red Bull Ring next month.

Last Sunday's win around the Baku City Circuit handed Russell a 22 point lead at the top of the unofficial 'championship' standings, ahead of early series pace setter Charles Leclerc.

But Russell will once again have a host of rivals determined to beat him to the flag, with four other F1 regulars set to line up on the grid at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Valtteri Bottas returns for Mercedes, while Red Bull's Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly of AlphaTauri, and Russell's Williams team mate Nicholas Latifi will also be competing.

And a host of guest stars will be joining the F1 racers for Sunday's event. Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil will be taking to the track for the first time, with the Scotsman lining up for AlphaTauri, whilst alpine-ski racer Jon Olsson makes his debut for Red Bull.

F1 YouTuber Tiametmarduk returns for McLaren after securing an impressive 8th place finish in his debut in the Virtual Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as fellow content creator Aarava makes his debut for Alfa Romeo.

F2 driver Guanyu Zhou, who kicked off the series with a win in the Virtual Bahrain Grand Prix, will race for Renault, while David Schumacher returns for Racing Point and Pietro Fittipaldi and Louis Deletraz will continue their partnership for Haas. British driver Callum Ilott returns to the Virtual Grand Prix series for Ferrari.

How to watch

Drivers will join the race remotely, with a host broadcast live from the Gfinity Esports Arena from 1700 UTC (1800 BST) on Sunday, June 14.

The broadcast, which will be available here on F1.com and the official Formula 1 YouTube, Twitch, Weibo, Huya and Facebook channels, is expected to run for 1 hour 30 minutes, with a qualifying session followed by a 35-lap race.

The Virtual Grand Prix will also be broadcast live with international broadcast partners in over 100 countries, including in the UK on Sky Sports, in the US on ESPN, and FOX Sports Asia across Southeast Asia.

The F1 Esports Pro Exhibition race featuring the official F1 teams’ professional esports gamers will precede the Virtual Grand Prix and is set to begin at 1600 UTC (1700 BST). The broadcast will be available on the official Formula 1 YouTube, Twitch and Facebook channels as well as selected TV broadcasters.
