Formula 2 and Formula 3 confirm calendars for 2024 season

The Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships have announced their calendars for the 2024 season, with the second tier featuring a bumper 14 rounds – including the arrival of a new venue, whilst the third tier will join Formula 1 and F2 at 10 events across three continents.

Both F2 and F3 will kick off their seasons in Sakhir, Bahrain on February 29 – March 02, with the second tier’s first double-header seeing them visit the Jeddah Corniche Circuit from March 7-9. The categories will reunite down under, as the championships return to Melbourne, Australia at the end of the month, on March 22-24.

The European leg of their 2024 campaigns will get underway with back-to-back weekends, with them linking up in Imola (May 17-19), followed by the iconic Monaco circuit on May 23-26.

An action-packed summer for both tiers will start with a triple header, beginning on June 21-23 in Barcelona, Spain before moving on to Spielberg’s Red Bull Ring (June 28-30) and rounding out in Silverstone, UK on July 5-7. After a weekend off, F2 and F3 will see off the month with another double header in Budapest (July 19-21) and Spa-Francorchamps (July 26-28).

F3’s season will conclude just after the summer break in Monza, with the Temple of Speed playing host from August 30 – September 01.

From there, F2 will fly solo alongside F1, as they’ll return to the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan on September 13-15. The 13th and penultimate round will see the championship make its debut in Qatar on November 29 – December 01 before the campaign draws to a close at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit on December 06-08.

“I’m very pleased to announce that there will be fourteen rounds and 28 races on the Formula 2 calendar in 2024,” said FIA Formula 2 and 3 CEO Bruno Michel. “For next year, we will race in Qatar, which is a very exciting new venue.

"The final leg of the season will see Baku, Qatar and Abu Dhabi after the race weekend in Monza, making the 2024 calendar more balanced. We keep receiving interest from many promoters, and it’s great that we can add new tracks every season. Even though there will be more fly-away events in 2024, we continue to ensure the teams’ budget remains at a proper level.”

On the F3 calendar, Michel added: “In 2023, we introduced two new circuits – Melbourne and Monte Carlo – which held extremely successful events for Formula 3. I am very pleased to include them again in the 2024 calendar.

"We will have 10 rounds, across 3 continents, starting in Sakhir and ending in Monza, all events running alongside Formula 1. In a matter of five years, the FIA Formula Championship 3 has become a decisive category that features the best up-and-coming talents on their way to the top steps of motorsport.”
