Formula 1 has returned to the Land of the Rising Sun for the first since 2019 and some of our drivers have unveiled their extraordinary one-off designs ahead of this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix action.
Yuki Tsunoda
The lone Japanese driver on the grid asked a few designers to come up with their concepts for his helmet for his home race this weekend, and winner Hiromi Nagaoka did not disappoint. Their special lid features a magnificent cherry blossom tree pattern, with a koi around the number 22.

Sebastian Vettel
The four-time Japanese Grand Prix winner has a special helmet with a special back story. Vettel has been wearing helmets made by Arai since he was eight years old. So, set for his final race at Suzuka, Vettel had a unique thank you message on his helmet in tribute to the Japanese company.
Mick Schumacher
Schumacher is the second driver to unveil a cherry blossom tree pattern on his helmet, as the German showcased a hand-painted stunner by Agnieszka Wienand – who also created the design for Vettel’s 2017 Japanese GP lid.
Valtteri Bottas
The Finn is back at his favourite track this weekend. And the winner of the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix is sporting a special navy blue helmet, with Japanese icons all around. Another amazing design from his girlfriend, professional cyclist and artist Tiffany Cromwell.
Alex Albon
Albon is another driver that is swapping his normal colours for a cherry blossom design, with the Thai racer displaying an eye-catching pink number, which possess a hint of Williams blue around the sides and at the back.
Lewis Hamilton
Hamilton has recently been collaborating with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami for a limited-edition collection from the seven-time world champions +44 clothing brand. And the two have incorporated their design on his new-look helmet, featuring Murakami’s trademark colourful flower around a smiling emoji character.
