Charles Leclerc was born and raised in Monaco, and on Thursday afternoon he used every ounce of that local knowledge to top the time sheets in practice for this Sunday's Grand Prix.
It was an even more impressive feat given the 23-year-old had managed just four laps in FP1 before a gearbox issue confined him to the garage while his Ferrari mechanics worked on fixing his car.
And the good news didn't end there for the Scuderia, who had Leclerc's team mate Carlos Sainz second quickest, ahead of reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
