With temperatures dropping, Leclerc set a time of 1m 43.224s on the soft tyre to lead Sergio Perez, in P2, by 0.248s. Max Verstappen finished in P3 for the second session in a row, as he was 0.356s further back of Leclerc, with the Alpine of Fernando Alonso in fourth.
Carlos Sainz finished in P5 in the other Ferrari, having failed to set a competitive time on the soft tyre, just ahead of Pierre Gasly in sixth. George Russell finished in P7, while his Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton was down in 12th.
