Mick Schumacher drives dad Michael's soon-to-be-auctioned title-winning Ferrari
One of the most iconic and successful Formula 1 cars of all time, Michael Schumacher’s F2002, is set to take centre stage in the first ever auction held by Formula 1 and RM Sotheby’s, and taking place in Abu Dhabi on November 30.
The Ferrari, the very one Schumacher drove at the 2002 French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours to secure his fifth drivers’ title, will go under the hammer in the run up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix season finale, alongside a host of other exotic machinery.
To mark the occasion of the car going to auction, RM Sotheby’s also teamed up with Schumacher’s F2-racing son Mick, to shoot a film of him piloting the F2002 – estimated to fetch between $5.5-7.5 million – around Ferrari’s private Fiorano test track.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale, meanwhile, will be donated to Schumacher’s Keep Fighting Foundation, a charity founded by his family to continue the seven-time champion’s charitable work.
“Bringing together Mick and the F2002 was a special moment for everyone involved, as well as an historic moment for both Formula 1 and Ferrari,” said Oliver Camelin, Car Specialist at RM Sotheby’s.
“To witness Michael’s son in this incredible car at the home of Scuderia Ferrari was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and truly underlined the significance of the F2002 to Michael and Ferrari’s racing legacy.”
Meanwhile, another Schumacher machine is also set to star in the auction, with the German’s 1992 Benetton B192 up for sale. The car, which took third places in Germany and Italy that year, is expected to fetch between $825,000 and $1.1m.
A 1982 Ferrari 126 C2, meanwhile, is also up for grabs, estimated at $2m - $2.5m. Chassis 061 is the sole surviving model of the seven originally built, and was the car that Patrick Tambay drove to several podiums, including his maiden victory in Germany, before Mario Andretti used it to secure his memorable 'comeback' Monza pole.
