It's the moment you've been waiting for. We gave you the option of six epic on-track tussles to choose from, with one going through to represent F1 in the FIA’s annual ‘Action of the Year’ competition. And it’s Daniel Ricciardo’s inch-perfect pass on Valtteri Bottas in China that came out on top…
Ricciardo delivered one of his trademark storming drives at this year’s Chinese Grand Prix, climbing from sixth on the grid to claim a sensational triumph against the odds - and en route to winning in Shanghai, the Australian produced a magnificent overtake on Mercedes rival Bottas.
Until the last second it seemed as though Bottas had the corner covered off, but the Red Bull racer committed, squeezing through the tightest of spaces down the inside to somehow find a way through.
That pass ultimately proved pivotal in him claiming his first win of this season, and the Australian took 35% of our public vote to seal top honours, beating the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
Ricciardo, who is parting ways with Red Bull at the end of this season to join Renault, will now be F1’s representative at the FIA’s ‘Action of the Year’ competition, which seeks to determine the best bit of motorsport action from 2018, across multiple categories.
