Roy Nissany to drive in pre-season testing as he is retained by Williams for 2021

Roy Nissany will continue as Williams' test driver for 2021 and the Israeli will also take part in a day of pre-season testing, the team have announced.

Nissany, 26, finished 19th overall in the 2020 Formula 2 season for Trident while fulfilling his role as Williams' test driver – with FP1 outings in Spain, Italy and Bahrain, plus a run in the post-season Abu Dhabi young driver test.

He has been retained by Williams and will take part in three more FP1 sessions across the 2021 season, with a day of pre-season testing added to his programme as well.

"I am truly honoured to continue being part of Williams," he said. "Since we started, we have made huge progress across many areas – on top of the great FP1s, we had a lot of productive work behind the scenes. While dedicating as much as I can to the team, I enhanced my skills and my capabilities as a driver. I am very keen to continue this form in 2021."

Team Principal Simon Roberts added: "I am pleased that Roy will continue as the team’s official test driver into 2021, building on the good work we started last year.

"As a team, we were very happy with the contributions Roy made both through his work on-track and in the simulator at Grove, which all aided the lap time gains we were able to make with the FW43.

"We also enjoyed seeing Roy grow as a driver, and we have no doubt that he will continue to go from strength-to-strength this year."

It's more continuity for Williams on the driver front, who are also retaining race drivers George Russell and Nichola Latifi in 2021.

Nissany has not yet been confirmed by Trident as their 2021 F2 driver, and drove for DAMS in the Bahrain post-season test last season.
