WATCH: Caldwell and Dunner walk away from huge crash in F3 Feature Race as Lawson takes victory

Red Bull junior Liam Lawson clinched his second F3 win of the season on Saturday morning at Silverstone in a race that was somewhat overshadowed by a huge crash involving Olli Caldwell and Lukas Dunner.

Late in the race Caldwell was tapped on the rear at Vale and spun round on the track, before an unsighted Dunner smashed into the back of him, ripping the whole rear section off the car, as you can see in the video above.

Fortunately both drivers walked away from the incident.

Meanwhile Lawson's first victory on a Saturday in Race 1 this year moved him up to third in the Championship and finally give his title bid some traction. Renault junior Oscar Piastri was still able to increase his lead at the top of the table though, taking second behind the Kiwi.

Lawson got his work done early, passing polesitter Logan Sargeant from second on the opening lap, while Piastri had to wait a little longer to get ahead of his PREMA teammate for P2.

The Australian will argue he could have had the win, having hunted down Lawson and closed the gap between them, but Red Bull junior was handed a safety car escort to the line, after that nasty late collision between Caldwell and Dunner.

Alex Smolyar will start Race 2 from reverse pole on Sunday at 8.45am, having finished in 10th place for ART Grand Prix.
