WATCH: Enjoy Carlos Sainz’s barnstorming run through the field in the Imola Sprint

After his qualifying crash in Q2 on Friday, Carlos Sainz was a man on a mission in the F1 Sprint at Imola, as he made up the most positions of any driver to claim fourth on the grid for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Sainz lost the back end of his Ferrari F1-75 midway through the Q2 segment of qualifying, spinning into the barriers at Rivazza 2, and leaving him 10th on the grid for the Sprint – the mistake coming 24 hours after Ferrari announced a contract extension for Sainz to keep him at the team until 2024.

But an inspired Sprint comeback from the Madrileno saw him rocket from P10 to P4, pulling off a string of neat overtakes on the likes of McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo, Alpine’s Fernando Alonso and Haas’s Kevin Magnussen.
