Lewis Hamilton was most certainly not the favourite to triumph at the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix.
The Mercedes man, teetering on the edge of his sixth drivers’ crown, had qualified over half a second off the pace of Max Verstappen on Saturday – albeit that Verstappen would start the race behind Hamilton in P4 after a yellow flag infringement.
Things then went badly at the start when Sebastian Vettel forced Hamilton onto the grass off the line, before Verstappen and Hamilton traded blows through Turns 2 and 3 (sounds familiar?).

However, a phenomenal bit of tyre management from Hamilton ultimately allowed him to defeat the Ferrari of Vettel, as he came home to take his 83rd victory – a win he quickly dedicated to his trusty, but on this weekend absent, race engineer Pete Bonnington.
