Max Verstappen has pulled off some incredible drives in the 2022 Formula 1 season – but none was more crucial than the one that saw the record-breaker seal his second title at Suzuka…

Verstappen has been nothing short of dominant this season, with records for most wins and most points in one campaign – and it feels like a while since he wrapped up title #2 in Japan.

Wet conditions made for a perilous start to the race in which Carlos Sainz lost control and brought out a caution, which turned into a long stoppage, after which the race was resumed behind the Safety Car.

Verstappen then led a shortened race, in which there was some confusion as to whether he would end up with enough points to secure the title. Charles Leclerc's last-corner penalty only added to the intrigue.
