WATCH: Verstappen the optician and frustration for Alonso – The best team radio from Austin

With the sun shining at the Circuit of The Americas, it wasn’t just the track that was heating up as tensions ran high across the weekend, with plenty to play for up and down the field.
Max Verstappen might have claimed victory but it was anything but easy for the Dutchman, who had Lewis Hamilton breathing down his neck in the latter stages of the race. Throw in wheel to wheel contact, unlucky retirements and plenty of overtakes, and it is easy to see why the airwaves were full of joy, excitement and frustration.
Sergio Perez and Mick Schumacher didn’t wait for Sunday to get racy, the Mexican having some choice words for his fellow driver after the two collided in practice. Meanwhile, Verstappen had an unusual suggestion for dealing with traffic, after calling his championship rival Hamilton a less than complimentary name.
Nicholas Latifi wasn’t too happy with the antics at the start, while Fernando Alonso was similarly frustrated when trying to get past not one but two Alfa Romeo cars. Carlos Sainz was another to find his overtaking attempts thwarted, which he didn’t appreciate, but at the chequered flag it was all jubilation in one Red Bull cockpit, while there was much more disappointment on the airwaves down at Mercedes.
