Porpoising was word of the day last season, when the new-style Formula 1 cars suffered from the phenomenon, which causes them to bounce up and down violently when at high speed.
This year, the regulations were tweaked to try to eradicate it – but what exactly causes the effect? Technical expert Albert Fabrega is here to explain how it works in the latest episode of Tech Talk.
He’s stopped short of bringing a full scale wind tunnel along, but Albert has a number of props to demonstrate the phenomenon.
