WEEKEND WARM-UP: F1 ready to get the party started in Zandvoort
Share
Zandvoort plays host to the 15th round of the 2022 championship, with Max Verstappen heading into his home race in sublime form, fresh from his dominant win last weekend in Belgium.
But will Ferrari be able to challenge the might of Red Bull, with the crowd likely to play a very vocal part in proceedings? They were well off the pace last time out in Spa, but both drivers were confident that their lack of speed was track-specific and that Zandvoort could play to their strengths.
Charles Leclerc has lost second place in the drivers’ standings to Sergio Perez, and needs a strong result here to try and reel in Verstappen’s mountainous lead in the championship. But it is a tough ask at a track where the Dutchman won last season, not to mention Verstappen’s current run of form, with three wins on the bounce.

Elsewhere, silly season continues apace in the driver market, while a fair few teams are looking for a strong result after a disappointing time of it in Spa. One thing is for certain though, and that is the party atmosphere that will greet the drivers this weekend as the Dutch supporters go to town for the second year running.
