Abu Dhabi Facts & Stats: Hamilton hits 250 – and equals another Senna record

Lewis Hamilton’s comfortable win for Mercedes on Sunday – his fifth on Yas Island – may not have been the toughest of his F1 career, but it was certainly a landmark one as the stats below attest. Read on for those, plus a few more fascinating facts from the 2019 season finale…

• In his 250th Grand Prix, Hamilton won from pole for the 50th time in his career.
• Hamilton led every lap of a race for the 19th time, tying Ayrton Senna's all-time record. And having already taken pole, and fastest lap, Hamilton scored the sixth Grand Slam of his career, and is now just two behind Jim Clark on the all-time list.
• Hamilton also tied the consecutive points finishes record that he already owned (33 in a row).... Had he not retired at Austria 2018 he would now have 67 consecutive points finishes.
• Hamilton secured his highest-ever single-season points total. His previous best was 408 points in 2018.
• Hamilton's 11th race win of the season tied his best-ever total, which he previously recorded in 2014 and 2018.
• Max Verstappen’s second place for Red Bull was his best-ever finish on this track, but he has still never led a lap here.
• Verstappen has had the best season of his career and clinched 3rd in the championship by beating Ferrari's Charles Leclerc today.

• Leclerc ended a four-race streak without a podium, but finished over 40 seconds behind the winner.
• Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas finished fourth from last on the grid.
• Sebastian Vettel has been beaten by a team mate over a season for the first time in his Ferrari career.
• Alex Albon’s sixth place meant he has finished 6th or better in eight of his nine races for Red Bull.
• By taking seventh, Racing Point's Sergio Perez has finished in the top-nine at Yas Marina for seven consecutive years.
• Lando Norris' 11th points finish of the year for McLaren means he scored in more than half the races in his rookie season.
• Team mate Carlos Sainz's 10th place was very significant – it clinched the Spaniard sixth in the drivers' championship.
