Alonso, Magnussen and Vettel cleared by stewards
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, McLaren’s Kevin Magnussen and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel have all been cleared of wrongdoing after being called in front of race stewards in Australia.
Magnussen and Vettel had been summoned for allegedly ignoring yellow flags during the closing stages of the Q2 segment of qualifying when Kimi Raikkonen had spun his Ferrari. However, the stewards found that both drivers had slowed sufficiently and were under control.
Alonso had been called before the stewards for possibly impeding Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez during Q1, but having reviewed video evidence and spoken to both drivers the officials were satisfied that no offence was committed.
