Belgian GP qualifying facts and stats: No Ferraris in Q3 for first time since 2014
A crushing pole for the Silver Arrows’ main man, but a day to forget for the men from Maranello. Here’s the top trivia thrown up by today’s thrilling qualifying session for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps…
• Lewis Hamilton is on pole for a record-extending 6th time at Spa.
• Mercedes have their first front-row lockout at Spa since 2015
• There were no Ferraris in Q3 for the first time since Silverstone 2014.

• Valtteri Bottas qualified on the front row for the first time ever at Spa.
• Max Verstappen’s P3 gives Red Bull their first top-4 start here since 2016.
• Verstappen missed the front row by just 0.015s.
• Team mate Alex Albon was 5th - his best qualifying since the season’s opening race in Austria.
• Daniel Ricciardo took 4th for Renault - his best-ever qualifying performance in Belgium, on what is his 10th visit.
• Nobody has ever won at Spa from 4th on the grid.
• With Esteban Ocon taking P6, there are 2 Renaults in the top 6 on the grid for the first time since Monza last year.
• Carlos Sainz has never started higher than 10th at Spa before – he will start 7th for McLaren tomorrow.
• It’s his first time reaching Q3 here since 2015.

• Team mate Lando Norris maintains his record of being the only man other than the Mercedes drivers and Verstappen to start every race in the top 10 this year.
• There were no Racing Point cars in the top 6 for only the second time this year – the last time it happened was at the season’s second round, the Styrian GP.
• Lance Stroll, who put his pink car 9th, has never started higher than 15th at Spa before.
2020 Belgian GP Qualifying: Russell celebrates brilliant lap at Spa
• A total of 5 constructors reached Q3, the minimum possible (Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, Renault, Racing Point).
• AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat missed Q3 by just 0.008s.
• On the plus side, Kvyat out-qualified team mate Pierre Gasly for the first time in 10 races.
• P11 is Kvyat's best qualifying of 2020. He was 19th on the grid for his last 3 visits to Spa.
• Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi remains the only driver to drop out in Q1 at every race this season.
• Williams’ George Russell progressed from Q1 for the 5th time in 7 races in 2020.
• Haas lost both cars in Q1 – in 2018 and 2019 they started in the top-10 with both cars at Spa.
