Max Verstappen will have a score to settle this weekend, having lost out on a chance of victory at the British Grand Prix after suffering floor damage to his Red Bull – allowing Carlos Sainz to come through and take his first F1 win.

The odds for who will be fastest in qualifying

While Verstappen has six victories to Leclerc’s two in 2022, those numbers are inverted for pole positions – with Leclerc once again favourite in the running. Bear in mind, though, that qualifying will take place on Friday afternoon after just one practice session around the Red Bull Ring, meaning whoever can dial their settings in quickest could be in the best shape for qualifying.

The odds for a podium finish

While the odds are a little long for the Mercedes drivers Hamilton and Russell to claim either the win or pole position, they’re well in the mix in the podium stakes, although notably still behind both Red Bull and Ferrari’s drivers despite the W13’s extensive upgrade package at Silverstone.

Lewis Hamilton notched up his first fastest lap of the year at Silverstone, meaning the only Red Bull, Ferrari or Mercedes driver yet to claim one in 2022 is George Russell.

McLaren's Lando Norris – on the podium here in both 2020 and 2021 – is the other driver to have scored a fastest lap in 2022, while Leclerc has the most with three.
