F1 ACADEMY drivers to get super licence points and wild card entries introduced for 2024 season

F1 ACADEMY has announced three important developments ahead of the 2024 season, with the series’ second campaign set to get under way in support of Formula 1 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in March.

From this season, the top five classified drivers in the Drivers’ Standings will receive FIA Super Licence points. The 2024 champion will receive 10 Super Licence points, whilst the vice champion and third-place finisher will collect seven and five points respectively.

Three points will be given to the driver who classifies in fourth, and the fifth-placed driver will receive one point.

Additionally, Wild Card entries will be introduced at select rounds to help strengthen the talent pool in the regions in which the series races. Wild Card entry will be offered to the chosen driver for a specific weekend, with them eligible to score points in the Drivers’ Standings.

Reigning Teams’ Champions PREMA Racing will operate the Wild Card car in addition to their three-car line-up, offering support and training to the selected driver. Further details of Wild Card entries will be announced in due course.

Finally, an update to the Sporting Regulations states that drivers may only compete in F1 ACADEMY for two seasons, encouraging progression and supporting rising talent coming through the karting and single-seater ranks.
