F2: Bearman dominates to take victory in Monza Sprint Race
Oliver Bearman put in a tremendous performance as he came from eighth on the grid to win the Monza Sprint Race, giving the PREMA Racing driver his second victory of the 2024 season.
The Briton made a strong start to the race and was up to fifth after Lap 1. But after an early Safety Car, he picked his way past Amaury Cordeel, Enzo Fittipaldi, Victor Martins and Josep María Martí to get to the front.

From then on, he built a strong lead, while the rest of the field squabbled for position behind him, before the Scuderia Ferrari Academy driver crossed the line to take victory, much to the delight of the Tifosi in the stands.
Alpine Academy member Martins finished second behind Bearman for ART Grand Prix, as AIX Racing’s Joshua Duerksen came out on top in a multi-car battle for the podium to finish in third.
Red Bull junior Martí finished fourth for Campos Racing, while Sunday’s pole-sitter Zane Maloney was fifth for Rodin Motorsport.
Maloney had earlier been involved in a collision with fellow Championship contender Paul Aron. The Hitech Pulse-Eight driver had been running in the points but finished at the back of the field after sustaining front wing damage.
Jak Crawford finished in P6 for DAMS Lucas Oil after pulling off a late overtake on Fittipaldi, who ended up in seventh.
Invicta Racing’s Gabriel Bortoleto also put in an eye-catching performance ahead of the Feature Race. The McLaren Development driver started in P22 but fought through the field to finish eighth.
He, however, was tied with MP Motorsport’s Dennis Hauger across the line, meaning that both drivers were forced to split the final point.
The drivers and teams will now use what they have learned from the Sprint ahead of Sunday’s 30-lap Feature Race, which is set to get underway at 10:05 local time.
