F2: Hadjar secures Championship lead with third Feature Race win of 2024

Isack Hadjar would not be denied at Silverstone as the Campos Racing driver won his third Feature Race of the season as title rival Paul Aron failed to score. The result moved the Frenchman into the lead of the Drivers’ Championship ahead of the Hitech Pulse-Eight driver.
Having lined up on pole, the Red Bull Junior Team talent lost out to compatriot Victor Martins on the run to Turn 1, as the ART Grand Prix driver was able to take an early lead in the first phase of the race.

A fast-starting Oliver Bearman relegated Hadjar to third, but approaching the pitstop phase, the French driver moved back ahead of the PREMA Racing man and into second.
Following the pitstops, Hadjar closed in on Martins and the pair went wheel-to-wheel through the final corners on Lap 18, and a mistake from the latter at Turn 1 left the ART off the track, allowing Hadjar and DAMS Lucas Oil’s Jak Crawford through for position.
Crawford then overtook Hadjar moments later to take the lead from the Campos, though he was then hit with a time penalty for an earlier unsafe release into the path of Rodin Motorsport’s Zane Maloney.
Despite the American’s efforts, Hadjar was able to stay with the five-second window to the chequered flag to be promoted up to the top step of the podium after the application of Crawford’s penalty. Maloney was also promoted up a place to second after finishing third on the road by 4.8s.

MP Motorsport and Williams Academy driver Franco Colapinto was able to make the alternative strategy work to secure a top five finish in P4, ahead of Martins who fell back to fifth position by the end.
