F3: Goethe takes maiden win in Trident 1-2 at Silverstone
Oliver Goethe fought off his rivals after a late race Safety Car and the arrival of rain in the final laps to secure his first FIA Formula 3 win for Trident at Silverstone. Leonardo Fornaroli finished second, as the Italian team secured their second one-two of the season to retake the lead in the teams’ standings.
Josep Maria Marti did his championship aspirations no harm as he claimed his fourth podium finish of the year with a P3 for Campos Racing.

From lights out, Trident settled into an early lead with pole-sitter Fornaroli heading up Goethe and Marti, while PREMA Racing’s Paul Aron was on the move. The Mercedes Junior Team driver was able to climb up to fourth, clearing Christian Mansell and championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto in the opening corners.
An early Safety Car was deployed after contact between home favourite Luke Browning and Campos’ Hugh Barter. The Hitech Pulse-Eight and Williams Academy driver was out with suspension damage.
Racing resumed with the top six separated by just three seconds. Goethe was able to make the pass for the lead and eventual win, while Marti fended off Aron to keep hold of third position.
Late in the race, rain began to fall, and Roberto Faria went off at Woodcote to bring out a second Safety Car. With the rain only intensifying but so few laps remaining, drivers had to tough it out on slicks on a wet track surface.

Goethe managed the conditions perfectly to take his first win in F3 ahead of his team mate and Marti. Bortoleto ended up fifth but keeps hold of the championship lead, and the gap over Marti falls to 36 points.
Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Gabriele Mini and Paul Aron are tied on 77 points heading to Budapest, with the Alpine Academy driver ahead of the Estonian in third and fourth respectively.
