BUDAPEST, HUNGARY - JULY 21: Race winner Nikola Tsolov of Bulgaria and ART Grand Prix (25)

Nikola Tsolov claimed his maiden Feature Race victory in Formula 3 and third victory of the campaign. The Bulgarian started from second but was able to pass teammate Laurens van Hoepen en route to victory.

At lights out, pole sitter Van Hoepen was forced three-wide by Tsolov and Noel León on the run to the first corner, but ultimately lost out to the Bulgarian at Turn 1 after running deep under braking.

From there, Tsolov managed the pace and the tyres to keep his teammate behind to the flag, despite race-long pressure from the Dutchman, as he remained in DRS range throughout.

Van Hoepen originally finished second but, following a post-race inspection of his car, was disqualified from the results for a technical breach.

It moved Van Amersfoort Racing’s León up to second, while Leonardo Fornaroli took valuable points in the Drivers’ Championship fight after promotion to third.

Christian Mansell was fourth for ART team, while Santiago Ramos rounded out the top five for Trident.

In terms of the title fight, current points leader Gabriele Minì retains his advantage in the Standings but couldn’t add to his tally of 119. Likewise, Luke Browning in P2 went point-less in Budapest along with Arvid Lindblad in third on 115 and 113 respectively, but Fornaroli was the biggest winner.

The Trident driver closed the gap in the Championship ahead of Spa-Francorchamps next weekend, with the top four drivers now covered by just seven points going into the penultimate round of the season.
