FOM's remote operations centre, with Tata Communications
On race days, Formula One Management’s new remote operations centre makes it possible to produce aspects of broadcasters’ needs just as effectively as if they are sitting at trackside.
This video case study gives a unique insight into the workings of the site, which provides live remote connectivity to feeds from the trackside.
John Morrison, FOM’s Chief Technical Officer, outlines the bigger picture: “Reliable connectivity and continuous support from the Tata Communications Service Team has made it possible to further our business goal of transferring media content from race locations worldwide”.
Tata Communications’ enhanced connectivity now enables the production team with two multi-view video feeds for raw footage and a reverse data path, allowing them, amongst other things, to operate a robotic trackside camera for the best possible race coverage.
It gives the team access to quality footage, without the need to transport equipment and staff to each race, saving on costs and carbon footprint. It also paves the way for further innovation in the way Formula One racing is filmed, viewed and enjoyed.
