FORMULA 2: Sette Camara secures first ever Feature Race win in Abu Dhabi
Share
Sergio Sette Camara picked stylish circumstances in which to win his first ever Feature Race in Formula 2, with his victory in Abu Dhabi earning DAMS the Teams’ title for 2019.
Sette Camara crossed the line five seconds ahead of Nobuharu Matsushita and Guanyu Zhou, but it was far from a lights-to-flag victory. The Brazilian started scrappily and fell as far back as fifth before his pit stop on Lap 7.
The duo who joined him on the podium were on an alternate strategy, and led for the majority of the race. But by the time they’d changed their tyres with less than five laps to go, Sette Camara had fought his way back through and retaken the lead.
The Brazilian’s win puts him within touching distance of 2020 Williams F1 driver Nicholas Latifi, who sits second in the drivers’ standings, with just tomorrow’s Sprint Race left to run this season.
