GOOD LAP vs GREAT LAP: Pierre Gasly takes us on a spin of the Sochi Autodrom

Share

Sochi has been on the F1 calendar since 2014, and has seen more than its fair share of brilliant wheel to wheel racing. The long, sweeping Turn 3 is the corner that most fans like to watch from, but there is plenty more to this Hermann Tilke designed circuit, which offers a mix of long straights, slow 90-degree bends and plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Pierre Gasly made it into Q3 in Russian GP qualifying last year, and shaved over a tenth off his fastest lap time from Q2 once in the top 10 shootout. The Frenchman will be hoping to do even better this year as he looks to continue a strong run of one-lap form that has seen him post a top-six qualifying time at the last four race weekends.
