Haas unveil new black-and-gold F1 livery for 2019
It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the first look at a 2019 Formula 1 car, with Haas unveiling their new livery for the forthcoming season. And, as expected, the American team have opted to switch things around this year by bringing the black-and-gold theme back to F1…
They unveiled the fresh colour scheme on the 2018 car – the first black-and-gold colour design since Lotus’ 2015 challenger - at a launch event at the Royal Automobile Club in London on Thursday, with 2019 drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen pulling off the covers.
The team then released digital pictures of their 2019 VF-19 online, more pictures of which you can see by clicking here.
Haas chose a combination of red, grey and black in their first three seasons in F1, but for the new campaign, the team’s livery will incorporate the black and gold colours of their new energy drinks partner and title sponsor Rich Energy.
Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner said: “It’s important that we keep progressing as a team, and this season is no different. Our partnership with Rich Energy is another positive example of moving forward as an organisation.
"We’re pleased to see their colours on the VF-19, we welcome them as they join our valued partner group in utilising Formula One as a global marketing platform. While 2018 delivered our best season to-date, the year showed, sometimes sharply, that we still have areas to improve on as a team.
"On-track, our push for performance started early with the VF-19, our next step is to get to Spain and utilise our time there wisely to prepare for Australia.”
William Storey, CEO of Rich Energy, added: “I’m naturally delighted to finally see the Rich Energy colors and stag logo in Formula 1 with Haas F1 Team. Partnering with the team has already significantly raised the profile of our brand, this livery unveil will again elevate us to another level.
"It’s fantastic to see the VF-19 decked out in black and gold, with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen similarly attired. We’ve worked closely with Haas F1 Team to ensure we present a strong look, one we’re now very proud to take around the world competing in Formula 1.”
The American team, who were formed ahead of the 2016 championship, will be hoping to enjoy a season of success in their new colours, having made progress last season.
After debuting in F1 with two eighth-place finishes in the constructors’ championship, Haas stepped up their game last season and emerged as the fourth-best team on pure pace.
A series of mistakes meant they failed to convert that advantage, but they still ended up fifth overall – an improvement of three places.
