What makes Shanghai International Circuit so special?
A state-of-the-art circuit on the outskirts of the Jiading District of Shanghai, the intentional track layout is a favourite feature of many motorsports fans and drivers alike. It was designed to bear resemblance to the Chinese symbol for ‘shang’ – the first character in the city’s name, meaning ‘above’ or ‘upwards’.

Shanghai has expanded itself into one of the world’s most dynamic and lively cities since the start of the millennium, making it an awesome F1 tourist stop. The sprawling Pudong district is chock full of hip bars and amazing restaurants. Then when it’s time to go racing, just hop on the Shanghai Metro’s Line 11 and get off at the Shanghai Circuit stop 60 minutes later.

What should I bring to the circuit?
- Your tickets!
- ID card (Residents, including children)
- Foreign guests with passports are required to go to the manual service area to complete verification
- Sunscreen to protect your skin
- A cap or hat for sun protection
- A jacket or raincoat
How should I present my tickets at the event? Can they be printed?
Tickets are digital, and must be presented via phone or tablet
What are the opening and closing times of the circuit?
- Friday: 08:00 - 19:00
- Saturday: 08:00 - 19:00
- Sunday: 08:30 - 19:00
Shanghai hosts the first F1 Sprint of 2025
What facilities are available in the circuit?
Toilets, free water refill stations, shade and seating, and medical facilities. Please note there is no public Wi-Fi available to visitors.
Can I use cash at the circuit, or is it card only?
Yes – Cash and card can both be used at the circuit
What items am I prohibited from bringing into the circuit?
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives
- Imitation guns and control instruments such as bow meals, slingshots, daggers and so on
- Fireworks, gasoline, alcohol, lighters, matches and other flammable and explosive dangerous goods
- Dangerous chemicals such as highly toxic, corrosive and radioactive substances
- Hazardous biological agents, infectious disease pathogens and other dangerous substances
- Heroin, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine and other types of drugs
- Flags, retractable flagpoles, banners, signs, lighted signs, laser pointers, projectors and other equipment
- Fragile containers (e.g., glass bottles/cups), easily thrown food and beverages, larger hard fruits and foods, knives
- Banners, slogans and other items used for propaganda with political, racial, religious, riotous and commercial content
- Amplification equipment, such as musical instruments, whistles, horns, drums and other types of amplification equipment
- All kinds of sticks and sharp objects that can easily cause personal injury, such as bat, long-handled umbrella, pointed umbrella and so on
- Balls, rackets, flying saucers and similar articles
- Any unauthorized professional photographic and video equipment and tripods and monopods used for cameras and video cameras
- Unauthorized items that may affect the normal conduct of the performance or hinder others from watching the performance, such as radios, laser devices, lighting equipment, projection equipment, walkie-talkies, radio equipment, etc
- Drones, all kinds of flying machines
Other items expressly prohibited by national laws and regulations or other items that are considered by the security checking and bomb searching police to be incompatible with the function of the event site and obviously affecting the safety.

Yes, alcohol is served within moderation. Visitors must bring valid form of ID.
Is the circuit accessible for visitors with a disability?
Yes, there is extra support for accessible guests. There are dedicated staff on hand to guide and assist throughout the weekend.
Are children allowed into the circuit? Is there a minimum age limit?
Yes, children are allowed into the circuit. There is no minimum age limit, but we recommend children to be over three years of age.
What are the public transport options to get to and from the circuit?
