HIGHLIGHTS: All the action from a thrilling qualifying session as Stroll takes brilliant maiden pole

Share

There were spins, offs and even a red flag in a dramatic wet qualifying session for Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix, but Lance Stroll was the man who ultimately conquered the conditions to take a brilliant maiden pole position.

The session had only been going for little over six minutes when the red flag was thrown as the rain was simply too heavy for the drivers to keep their cars on track. When it did restart, we saw the drivers swapping between full wet tyres and intermediates as they struggled to find the best rubber in the changing conditions.

Max Verstappen had looked unbeatable at times throughout qualifying but in the end he had to settle for second place behind Stroll, with the Canadian's Racing Point team mate Sergio Perez capping a great day for the team by nabbing third, on a day when the Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas could do no better than sixth and ninth respectively.
