HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the action from FP1 at Silverstone as Norris leads Stroll and Tsunoda spins out

McLaren driver Lando Norris set the pace during Friday’s first practice session for the British Grand Prix, leading the way from Aston Martin rival Lance Stroll and team mate Oscar Piastri.
Max Verstappen wound up fourth in his Red Bull, but unlike the top three drivers only used Pirelli’s medium tyres, rather than softs, as teams worked their way through a variety of run plans.
It was an overcast session around the historic Silverstone circuit, following some morning rain, with Yuki Tsunoda an early victim of the low grip levels as he spun into the gravel and brought out the red flags.
It was not the only moment of drama, as Piastri’s McLaren ground to a halt while returning to the pit lane in the closing minutes of the session, prompting Race Control to temporarily close the entry.
There were also several youngsters in action, with Ollie Bearman driving at Haas after news of his full-time promotion for 2025, alongside fellow F2 stars Isack Hadjar and Franco Colapinto at Red Bull and Williams respectively, and Alpine reserve Jack Doohan.
Hadjar was involved in the final moment of jeopardy when the chequered flag arrived, not realising that Norris was approaching through the flowing Abbey/Farm complex at the start of the lap and prompting a lock-up from the Briton as he took avoiding action.
