SAO PAULO, BRAZIL - NOVEMBER 05: Fans show their support prior to the F1 Grand Prix of Brazil at

Getting to and from the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, or Interlagos as it's often called, is simple but it’s best to plan your route in advance to catch all the action and make the most of your time in Sao Paulo.

The circuit is located in the neighbourhood of Interlagos, a region between two artificial lakes built to help supply Sao Paulo with water and power. We suggest using public transport where possible, with a number of options to get you right to the heart of the action. Read on for more information.

Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the circuit too. When Formula 1 visits Interlagos, it's a very popular destination!

We strongly encourage the use of public transport options when travelling to and from the circuit

Transport

Sao Paulo’s metro system consists of underground rail lines serving the inner city, and combines with regular, above ground train lines running to suburban locations to form the largest metropolitan rail transport network in South America. It's an efficient and reliable service to millions of commuters and visitors every day!

When travelling to Interlagos, use the stop Autodromo on Line 9 (Esmeralda). The station is located approximately 500 metres away from the circuit.

The metro operates from 04:30 to midnight Sunday – Friday, and until 01:00 Saturday.

Additionally, there is a GPSP express train that travels exclusively to and from the circuit over the Grand Prix weekend. This express service will depart from Pinheiros Station and Station Morumbi, and head straight to the Autodromo, with just a short walk or shuttle bus ride to get to your circuit entrance!

For more information on the GPSP Express, check out the dedicated page on the Sao Paulo Grand Prix website.

Designated SPTrans Service express buses are also available on the Saturday and Sunday of the Grand Prix weekend from various locations in Sao Paulo, directly to and from the circuit's main gates using designated bus lanes. The depature points are:

  • Sao Paulo Market Shopping Mall Express
  • Trianon/MASP
  • Santo Amaro Terminal
  • Congonhas Airport Express

Getting into the circuit

There are multiple entrances into the circuit, and information about which access gate is best for you can be found on your ticket. You can also download the F1 Race Guide App and use the circuit map to see which entrance is best for you.

Additionally, there will be signposts outside the venue to help you find your entry point.

The gates open at the following times:

  • Friday: 08:00
  • Saturday: 08:00
  • Sunday: 08:00

Opening hours are local time and are subject to change. Check out the dedicated area of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix website for updates.

Leaving the circuit

Due to the large number of fans leaving the circuit after each day's action, some congestion when exiting the venue should be expected. Keep this in mind when using public transport too.

The metro system finishes running at midnight each night (and 01:00 Saturday night), giving you plenty of time to leave the circuit after the day’s events.

If you're heading elsewhere in Sao Paulo for the evening, check out our Destination Guide.
