How to get to and from the United States Grand Prix
Getting to and from the Circuit of The Americas is simple, but it’s best to plan your route in advance to catch all the action and make the most of your time in Austin.
We suggest using public transport where possible, with a number of options to get you right to the heart of the action. Read on for more information.
The Circuit of The Americas is located 15 miles outside of downtown Austin, and is best accessed by road (taxi, hire car or the COTA shuttle bus are all viable options). Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the circuit – despite the short distance from the city, when Formula 1 comes to town it's a very popular route!
Transport
There are a number of COTA shuttle services to the circuit from either Downtown Austin or Northeast Austin.
- Shuttle services are round trips that start at 08:00 and run continuously throughout the day
- These shuttle services will run in a dedicated bus lane, meaning a quicker trip to the circuit!
- Shuttle-riders will be dropped off and picked up at the Grand Plaza entry gates
If you decide to travel by car, you need to have purchased parking passes at the circuit. There are ten car parks that surround the circuit and are just a short walk to the six entry gates. Check out the United States Grand Prix website for more transport information.
Whichever method of transport you decide to use, we encourage you to get to the circuit early.
Getting into the circuit
The Circuit of The Americas has six entrances. Make sure to enter through the gates closest to your grandstand to avoid having to trek around the track to find your seats!
The gates open at the following times:
- Friday: 08:30 (Parking opens at 08:00)
- Saturday: 08:30 (Parking opens at 08:00)
- Sunday: 08:00 (Parking opens at 07:30)
Opening hours are local time and are subject to change. Check out the dedicated area of the United States Grand Prix website for the latest.
Leaving the circuit
Due to the large number of fans leaving the circuit after each day's action, congestion when exiting the venue should be expected. Keep this in mind when using public transport too.
Whichever method of transport you decide to take, we encourage you to stick around and leave later if possible, avoiding the worst of the congestion while enjoying the array of entertainment and attractions on offer at the circuit.
