It's hard to believe given it was a busy Sprint weekend, but the drivers did manage to get up to all sorts of shenanigans in between the on-track action in Qatar – and social media captured the highlights. From hot laps to ice packs, new sports and sporting stars – here's all the best social media from the Qatar Grand Prix weekend...

Backseat driver

Before the weekend properly began, George Russell decided to take old friend Alex Albon for a few hot laps of the Lusail International Circuit.

It's safe to say that F1 drivers do not make good passengers, but will Albon be returning the favour in the future?

Back to the 90s

Last week it was all about Rome, this time around it's the yearbook challenge you didn't know you needed in your life. No need to include Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton though – they remember it well.

But for the younger stars on the grid, seeing AI get to work and recreate some of our favourite nostalgic looks really was something.

Are any of them feeling inspired to have a wardrobe change? Russell has been sporting a vintage look of late, although his is more of a sixties vibe...

Rise of the Phoenix

A familiar face popped up in the F1 paddock at the weekend – none other than ex-Haas racer Romain Grosjean. He spent some time catching up with his old boss Guenther Steiner, before saying hi to his former mechanics.

It's three years since Grosjean's famous crash in Bahrain, and it's always great to see him back in the paddock.

He wasn't the only star on the grid though, as former Barcelona and Brazil star Ronaldinho was also spotted hanging out at the race.

Two different approaches

The yearbook challenge wasn't the only one going around, with Ferrari challenging their two drivers to a water pouring contest. It was trickier than it sounds, and one driver went for a master of chaos approach while the other favoured the slow but steady tactic.

But which was which? The answer might surprise you...

Yuki's next career?

We all thought Yuki Tsunoda would be heading into the world of cooking when he leaves racing behind, but he has shown himself to be a man of many talents. Employing all sorts of tactics when playing games with his team mate in the park, Tsunoda turned out to be quite the acrobat.

He's somewhat used to getting turned around on the race track – but fortunately hasn't had as much experience being upside down...

Ice at the ready

It was another hot weekend in Qatar, all that mid-season rain a long distant memory off the back of four warm race weekends. George Russell was one of a number of drivers sporting ice vests and the like, and he even briefly offered to share some of his cooling aids with his mechanic... before swiftly deciding not to.

He also indulged in an ice bath again, looking about the most peaceful he had all weekend.

Ferrari love

They say everyone's first racing love is Ferrari, and it looks to be true – even for a Dutch three-time world champion. Someone dug out this photo of a young Max Verstappen, and it is clear to see that he nailed his colours to the mast early on.

Still, there are worse teams to secretly support than the historic, iconic Prancing Horse. But will we ever see Verstappen drive for the mighty Scuderia?
