Kevin Magnussen has made clear that he is “not too stressed” about his motorsport future and will be “at peace no matter what” – whether that means another stint in Formula 1 or a move outside the sport.

It was recently confirmed that Magnussen and Haas will part ways at the end of the season, with the squad – who are also losing Nico Hulkenberg to Kick Sauber – signing an all-new line-up of Esteban Ocon and F2 racer Ollie Bearman for 2025.

HALF TERM REPORT: Haas – With a departing driver duo, can the team capitalise on their surprising year?

Asked before the summer break if categories such as the World Endurance Championship and IndyCar appeal to him, should another F1 drive not materialise, the 31-year-old Dane commented that “everything is on the table”.

Asked for an update on the situation at the Dutch Grand Prix, and if F1 is still his priority, Magnussen said: “I’m at peace no matter what, but I think right now there’s no news to report on my future. Nothing has been decided.

Magnussen will leave Haas at the end of the season, with his future yet to be confirmed

“I think right now I’m not stressing about finding out what my future’s going to be. There’s a couple of seats still available in Formula 1, and that stuff is still going on, but what I do if I don’t land a seat in Formula 1, I’m not too stressed [about it].”

Magnussen will leave Haas having contributed to an improved level of performance from the squad, who placed last in the 2023 constructors’ standings but have risen to seventh as things stand – ahead of Alpine, Williams and Kick Sauber.

Should Haas convert that position over the second half of the season, it would represent their highest classification since 2018, when Magnussen was paired with Romain Grosjean during his first spell at the team.

Asked if the recent progress from Haas has surprised him, Magnussen commented: “We’ve been in an even better situation than we are now – I don’t think this is the most competitive we’ve ever been.

“Back in 2018, we were even more competitive and, you know, the fifth best team. Now we’re seventh best and fighting sometimes with the sixth best, but back in 2018 we were fifth best.

“I’ve seen that potential before and I think it’s taken a downturn in recent years, and this year really that has turned around and we’re now building momentum.

“Going into the future for this team, I think there’s a lot of good things going on in the background and I foresee them continuing in that direction.”

As for what’s possible for himself and Haas during their farewell sequence, he added: “There’s reasons to do the best job we can, and I think we need to carry on the momentum we built in the first half, because I think it was a positive first half of the year.

“I’m looking forward to the second [half], and hopefully many more races with points and still fighting for, I guess P6, but realistically P7 in the constructors’ [standings].”
