Kvyat and Red Bull star in Russian city demo
Daniil Kvyat put on a show for fans in his homeland over the weekend when he joined the Kazan City Racing demonstration on Sunday.
Following his maiden F1 podium in Hungary recently, the Russian driver put Red Bull's double title-winning RB7 through its paces on a specially-constructed circuit around Tysyacheletia Square in Kazan, home to more than a million people and one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Kvyat, who also spent time signing autographs, was not the only attraction: drift racers, Russian Superbike machinery and the Red Bull Kamaz Truck Racing crew were all in attendance for the second instalment of the Kazan City Racing demonstration, which draws crowds of more than 50,000.
The event took place little more than a month before F1 racing returns for only its second Grand Prix in Russia, in the Black Sea city of Sochi.
Kvyat became the second-youngest podium finisher in F1 history at the Hungaroring last month, aged 21 years and 91 days old. His result was also the best ever for a Russian driver. Only one other Russian has stood on the rostrum - Vitaly Petrov, who came third in Australia in 2011.
