McLaren young driver Norris to test in Hungary
McLaren Young Driver Programme member Lando Norris is to drive for the team in next week’s post-Hungary test. It will be the British teenager’s first taste of current F1 machinery.
Norris is currently enjoying a successful rookie season in the FIA F3 Euro series, lying third in the standings after three wins and 10 podiums to date. His F1 test is part of his prize for winning last year’s McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver Award.
The 17-year-old will get behind the wheel of the McLaren MCL32 on the second day of the two-day test, which runs August 1-2, taking over from race driver Stoffel Vandoorne.
Norris was a three-time single-seater champion last year, winning the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand.
