OFFICIAL GRID: Who starts where as Russell, Lawson and Zhou demoted in Austin
It’s time for the Norris-Verstappen battle to resume as the title protagonists once again start from the front row of the grid, this time for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas.
Behind the McLaren and Red Bull men, it’s an all-Ferrari second row, with Carlos Sainz heading team mate Charles Leclerc. Then comes the sister papaya car of Oscar Piastri and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, the lead Haas of Kevin Magnussen, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and RB's Yuki Tsunoda complete the top 10 in Texas.
At the rear of the grid, Zhou Guanyu has a five-place grid penalty meaning he is 18th for Kick Sauber. And starting at the back for his F1 race return is Liam Lawson. That’s thanks to a new power unit going into the back of the RB he takes over from Daniel Ricciardo.
Finally, Mercedes's George Russell is the sole pit-lane starter. The Briton had qualified sixth, but damage from his crash at the end of the session meant the team had to work on his car whilst under parc ferme conditions.
