PALMER: Verstappen’s Turn 1 penalty proved decisive in Jeddah, so were the stewards right?

Turn 1 proved to be the decisive corner of the Saudi Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen picking up a penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, handing the initiative to Oscar Piastri to go on and win.
Really it was an initiative that Piastri took in the opening metres of the race though. Both drivers at the front started on the medium tyre, but it was Piastri who managed to get the power down quickest on Sunday and he got completely up the inside of Verstappen before the first turn.
