Portuguese GP Facts & Stats: Hamilton, Verstappen and Bottas set new podium record
He may have missed out on a 100th pole position on Saturday, but on Sunday in Portimao there was no denying Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time champ added a few more stats to his record book, as did those who chased him home…
• Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas filled the podium for the 15th time in F1, a new record for the most recurring podium trio. It was previously held by Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel (14 times).
RACE REPORT: Hamilton takes victory in Portugal after crucial overtakes on Verstappen and Bottas
• This is the 4th consecutive time that Hamilton has won when starting from 2nd on the grid.
• Hamilton leads the drivers’ championship for the 123rd race, having passed Michael Schumacher's previous record at the last round in Imola.
• Hamilton scored for the 150th time as a Mercedes driver (he has only failed to score 9 times since joining the team in 2013).
• Verstappen has begun the year with a win and 2 x 2nd places – his best-ever start to a season.
• Bottas led his first laps of 2021 today, but hasn't finished higher than 3rd this season.
• The Finn has taken 1 win in the last 19 races.
DRIVER OF THE DAY: Perez gets the fans' vote with P4 in Portugal
• For Sergio Perez, 4th is his best result since joining Red Bull, and he too led his first laps of 2021.
• At McLaren, Lando Norris finished in the top 5 for the 4th consecutive race, and scored for the 8th race in a row.
• P6 for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc meant he has taken top-6 finishes in every race so far in 2021.
• P7 from Esteban Ocon was the best result for the Alpine name in F1 so far.
• Ocon has beaten team mate Fernando Alonso in every race so far in 2021.
• Alonso’s P8 today was nevertheless his best result since Singapore 2018.
