Spanish GP Facts & Stats: Hamilton sets new, all-time podium record
Sunday saw Lewis Hamilton move to the top of another ‘of all-time’ list, as the reigning champion recorded an imperious Spanish Grand Prix win. Here’s our round-up of all the tantalizing trivia to come out of the Barcelona race…
• Just 3 cars finished on the lead lap – the fewest since Austria 2018 (also 3), which was the only time in the last 73 Grands prix that Hamilton failed to finish or score.
• Hamilton’s victory gave him a 156th podium, a new all-time F1 record, moving him ahead of Michael Schumacher.

• Hamilton has now won four consecutive Spanish Grands Prix – he has previously won 4 consecutive times at Silverstone and the Circuit of The Americas.
• The Mercedes power unit has now led a 29th consecutive race – the 2nd longest streak of all-time behind Renault's 44 in 1994-97.
• Max Verstappen took his 5th consecutive podium finish, 1 short of his career best set in 2018/19.
• For Valtteri Bottas it was his 50th career podium finish, 1 short of compatriot Mika Hakkinen's total.
• By securing the fastest lap of the race, Bottas prevented Hamilton taking a 7th career grand slam.
• Lance Stroll finished 4th, equaling Racing Point’s best-ever Spanish GP result.
• With Sergio Perez following Stroll in the results, Racing Point matched their 2017 results here by finishing 4th and 5th, the first time both their cars have been in the top-5 since then.

• At McLaren, local hero Carlos Sainz matched his best-ever Spanish GP finish in 6th – he has never finished lower than 9th in 6 Barcelona starts.
• Sebastian Vettel’s 7th place for Ferrari was his worst Spanish GP result since he retired on the first lap in 2008.
• Red Bull’s Alex Albon beat Pierre Gasly's AlphaTauri by just 0.589s to claim his 5th consecutive points finish.
• For Gasly, it was the first time this season he has scored points and reached Q3 at the same Grand Prix.
• With Lando Norris joining team mate Sainz in the points in P10, it was the 3rd time this season that both McLarens have scored.
• Kimi Raikkonen is now the all-time leader in terms of distance completed in F1 races, beating previous record holder Fernando Alonso.
• Charles Leclerc suffered the first mechanical retirement of his Ferrari career.
