Sunday’s race saw Lewis Hamilton secure his fourth career Spanish Grand Prix victory, while the Briton also became the first man to take a hat trick of wins in Barcelona since Michael Schumacher, who won four times between 2000 and 2004. Here are some of the best statistics from the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix.

  • With Bottas following his team mate to a second-place finish, Mercedes now make it five consecutive one-two finishes. That is tied with similar runs in 2014, 2015 and 2016, but has never been done at the start of the season.
  • Ferrari have been fastest at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in pre-season testing for the last two seasons, but haven’t scored a podium finish in the race since 2017.
  • Verstappen’s podium finish means he has not finished lower than he has started since last season’s Hungarian Grand Prix, 14 races ago.
  • The Dutchman's impressive third is also only Honda’s second podium finish since their return to F1 as an engine supplier in 2015.
  • Carlos Sainz’s eighth-place finish means the McLaren driver has scored points in every one of his home Grands Prix, not finishing lower than ninth in his five Spanish starts.
CIRCUIT DE BARCELONA-CATALUNYA, SPAIN - MAY 12: Daniil Kvyat, Toro Rosso STR14 during the Spanish
  • Daniil Kvyat may have secured his fourth consecutive Spanish GP top-10 finish, but his ninth place this weekend means the Russian maintains his record of never finishing higher than that position while driving for Toro Rosso.
  • Daniel Ricciardo’s 12th place means the Australian has yet to score points with his new-for-2019 blue and pink helmet design. He finished seventh in China, but was sporting a Jack Brabham design there to celebrate F1’s 1000th Grand Prix.
  • Haas brought new upgrades to their car this weekend and backed up their best overall qualifying of the season with their first double points finish of 2019.
  • The team's upturn in pace means Romain Grosjean scored his first point of the 2019 season. The Frenchman retired from three of the first four races of the campaign.
