Tech insight - Force India pushing for Perez’s home race
Force India may be all but assured of fourth place in the constructors’ championship (they could seal it this afternoon), but that doesn’t mean development of the VJM10 is not ongoing…
At Sergio Perez’s home race in Mexico the team have introduced this completely new barge board. Perez tried it first in practice on Friday morning before both he and Esteban Ocon ran it in the afternoon. It features a large vertical turning vane a fair way forward of the sidepod and attached to it with a very thin, metal stiffening rod.
In the front lower section of the board there was also a long series of teeth, though these were removed for qualifying and the race. Likewise the updated floor section below, with three vertical vortex generators just behind the aforementioned new turning vane.
