We all know by now that Lewis Hamilton’s Turkish Grand Prix win brought him a Michael Schumacher-equaling 7th drivers’ title, but the Brit was etching plenty of other numbers into the F1 history books on Sunday. Here’s a round-up of your need-to-know stats from that amazing Istanbul race…

• Hamilton has won 4 consecutive races for the 7th time in his career.

• Today he won from 6th on the grid – as he did the last time he started from that position, back in 2014 at the British GP.

• Hamilton's 73rd win for Mercedes is a new record for the most wins with a single constructor.

• He scored in a record 47th consecutive race, and has now taken points in 80 of the last 81 Grands Prix.

• Hamilton never ran in a podium position until lap 34 of this 58-lap race.

A 9th F1 podium for a Perez, who has no confirmed drive for next season

• Sergio Perez’s 2nd place for Racing Point was his best result since the 2012 Italian GP, when like today, he was 2nd to Hamilton.

• Today’s was the 9th podium finish of his F1 career, and his 18th consecutive points finish.

• Both Hamilton and Perez have scored in every race they have started in 2020.

• Sebastian Vettel’s 3rd place was Ferrari's 3rd podium of 2020, surpassing their total from 2014, which was their lowest since 1992.

• It was Vettel’s first top-5 finish of year, and his first podium since Mexico 2019.

• He had not completed a single lap in the top 3 all season until today.

• Team mate Charles Leclerc lost 2nd and 3rd places in the final 2 corners of the race, but secured his 5th top-4 finish of the season.

• Ferrari’s haul of 27 points was their best result of the season.

• McLaren’s Carlos Sainz finished in the top 5 for the 4th time in 2020 – prior to this year he had only managed it 6 times in his career.

A career 1st for Albon today - leading a Grand Prix

• Today was the first time this year Max Verstappen has finished a race without being on the podium.

• Red Bull team mate Alex Albon led a lap for the first time in his F1 career and ended a 3-race pointless streak by finishing 7th.

• Lando Norris set the fastest lap for the 2nd time this year, giving McLaren their 3rd of 2020 – more than any team other than Mercedes.

• Racing Point’s Lance Stroll started on pole and led 32 laps of this race and ended up finishing 9th.

• Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo took the final point in 10th and extended his points streak to 8 consecutive races.

• Valtteri Bottas was lapped by Mercedes team Hamilton, on his way to winning the title, just as his predecessor Nico Rosberg was at the 2014 Abu Dhabi GP.

• There were 5 different race leaders today – 4 of which were in the opening 12 laps.
