For generations of F1 fans in English-speaking countries across the globe, Murray was the voice of every thrilling moment of Grand Prix racing for decades, up until his retirement in 2001. For millions of viewers it's impossible to separate the most dramatic moments in the sport's history from Murray's passionate and enthusiastic commentary – his voice as much the soundtrack to F1 as the roar of the engines.
