WATCH: Doohan brings out the red flags after heavy FP2 crash in Japan

Jack Doohan endured a nightmare start to his Japanese Grand Prix weekend as he crashed heavily in Free Practice 2, bring out the red flags.
The Alpine driver was taking part in his first session of the day at Suzuka, having earlier stood aside to allow Japanese test and reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa an FP1 outing in front of his home fans.

But just seven-and-a-half minutes into FP2, and on only his fourth lap, Doohan caused the red flags to fly as he clattered the barriers at Turn 1, destroying the left-hand side of his car and both the front and rear wings before asking "what happened?" and gingerly walking away from the wreckage.
The crash paused the session for just over 20 minutes, before resuming with half-an-hour remaining.
